2.0-LITRE HORIZONTALLY OPPOSED BOXER ENGINE
| Subaru's active safety system is anchored on the masterful matching of the horizontally opposed engine, symmetrical drive train and Subaru's AWD System. The gutsy Boxer engine has a horizontal, symmetrical layout, which allows it to sit low in the engine bay. From engine to transmission and propeller shaft to rear differential, the entire AWD power train is in a perfectly straight line, with a symmetrical horizontal layout. | ![]() |

If you need to come to a grinding halt you won't lose out traction or steering control with the Impreza WRX's ABS system. The system comprises of an ABS computer and a Hydraulic Control Unit. The ABS computer measures the speed of each wheel and determines whether that wheel is about to, or already has locked. The Hydraulic Control Unit then regulates the pressure at each wheel brake so wheel decelerates at a rate at which traction can be maintained. |
SUSPENSION
| Up front we have fitted Macpherson strut type, independent, coil spring suspension. On the rear there is a dual link strut type, independent set-up with coil springs. | ![]() |
